4.11.1 New Professors Scheme grant
As an initiative of the Vice-Chancellor and President, new professors in the University are eligible for a one-off grant of $25 000 which may be used for a specific project or projects within the University. Amounts in excess of this may be authorised under exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Vice-Chancellor and President.
4.11.2 Eligibility
Staff appointed to the level of professor in the University and staff appointed to the level of associate professor in the Carumba Institute, and who have not previously held this position at the University, are eligible to receive a New Professors Scheme grant. Appointment may be as a result of a recruitment process, a promotion process or an appointment by invitation.
4.11.3 Grant expenditure
Expenditure of the grant must be seen to benefit the grant recipient's professional development and the faculty/division to which the recipient belongs. A brief project proposal must be submitted and approved by the relevant executive dean or head of division before grant funds can be expended. Examples for which the grant may be used include purchase of equipment, or hiring of staff to facilitate the project.
