Engagement Committee is a Vice-Chancellor's committee established in accordance with Council Procedure 1 – Committees. Engagement Committee is accountable to the Vice-Chancellor for fulfilling the following terms of reference.

Terms of reference

Engagement Committee

  • provides advice to the Vice-Chancellor, through Vice-Chancellor’s Advisory Committee, on
    • engagement priorities / directions, including major partnerships and initiatives
    • engagement components of University, faculty, institute and division plans
    • implications of trends and developments in engagement, nationally and internationally
    • opportunities for deepening and sharing engagement knowledge
    • coordination of cross-faculty / institute / division collaboration on engagement initiatives 
    • progress of faculties, institutes and divisions against the Engagement Strategy
    • recommended revisions to the Engagement Strategy in line with top-level plans and the QUT Blueprint
  • guides and monitors activities of engagement project teams and/or associated working parties
  • provides oversight and annual review of the Engagement Incentive Fund Scheme
  • considers other matters relating to engagement as referred to it by the Vice-Chancellor or Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Development).

Membership

  • Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Development) ex officio as Chair
  • Two Executive Deans nominated by Vice-Chancellor’s Advisory Committee
  • One Institute Director nominated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Commercialisation)
  • One Assistant Dean (Research) nominated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Commercialisation)
  • One Assistant Dean (Teaching and Learning) nominated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching)
  • One Assistant Dean, External Relations (or equivalent) nominated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Development)
  • Two additional Assistant Deans nominated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Development) to ensure representation from each faculty
  • One senior staff member from the Division of Research and Commercialisation nominated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Commercialisation)
  • One senior staff member from the Learning and Teaching Unit nominated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching)
  • One external member with expertise or interest in engagement, nominated by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Development)
  • Head of Caboolture Campus ex officio
  • Director, Alumni and Development Office ex officio

A nominee of the Registrar is secretary.

Tenure and frequency of meeting

Terms of office are as detailed in section 6 of Council Procedure 1 - Committees .

Engagement Committee normally meets four times a year.
