Engagement Committee is a Vice-Chancellor's committee established in accordance with Council Procedure 1 – Committees. Engagement Committee is accountable to the Vice-Chancellor for fulfilling the following terms of reference.

Terms of reference

Engagement Committee

  • provides advice to the Vice-Chancellor on
    • engagement priorities / directions, including major partnerships and initiatives
    • engagement components of institutional plans
    • implications of trends and developments in engagement, nationally and internationally
    • advises on opportunities for deepening and sharing engagement knowledge 
  • guides and monitors engagement project teams' and/or associated working parties' direction and delivery, and
  • considers other matters relating to engagement as referred to it by the Vice-Chancellor or Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Development).

Membership

  • Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Development) ex officio as Chair
  • Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Teaching Quality) ex officio
  • Three members from and nominated by Vice Chancellor's Advisory Committee, considering policy priorities of the coming term
  • A nominee of the Vice-Chancellor
  • One Assistant Dean, External Relations (or equivalent) nominated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Development)
  • Director, University Advancement and Alumni ex officio
  • One external representative with expertise or interest in engagement, nominated by Engagement Committee.

A nominee of the Registrar is secretary.

Tenure and frequency of meeting

Terms of office are as detailed in section 3 of Council Procedure 1 - Committees .

Engagement Committee normally meets four times a year.
