QUT's research goal is "to advance and apply knowledge germane to the professions and to the communities with which QUT interacts and relevant to the enhancement of economic, cultural and social conditions" (see section A/2 ).

In the context of its vision and its research goal, the specific research objectives of the University are to promote

  • the quality and range of research undertaken
  • the research capacity of staff and students
  • the conduct of research relevant to social, cultural and economic needs and intellectual advancement
  • the encouragement and support of creativity and innovation.

Through its University Research and Innovation Committee, QUT devises an annual University Research and Innovation Plan to guide and focus University-wide planning around current critical issues and to provide strategies by which these research objectives can be achieved.
