10.3.1 Library collection
10.3.1 Library collectionIn the case of a thesis, the bound original copy must be deposited with the QUT Library. In the case of dissertations and project reports, blanket arrangements for the deposit of one copy from specific courses is at the relevant faculty's discretion. Individual schools may negotiate deposit of selected dissertations and project reports from courses not covered by faculty arrangements. 10.3.2 HousingTheses are housed in closed access. Dissertations and project reports are housed in open access. 10.3.3 Restricted accessWhere a candidate or the sponsoring establishment wishes the thesis to remain confidential for a period of time after completion of the work, application for restriction of access must be made to the University Research and Innovation Committee when the thesis is submitted. The period of restricted access shall not normally exceed two years from the date on which the Examination Committee recommends acceptance of the thesis. If restricted access is granted, the thesis will be held in closed access in the Library but remain unavailable for any use whatsoever until the restricted period is expired. In the case of restricting access to dissertations and project reports containing confidential material, the student must seek approval of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). Such works are deposited in the library but are unavailable for use until the need for confidentiality passes. 10.3.4 CataloguingTheses and dissertations are given full Australian Bibliographic Network (ABN) cataloguing. Project reports are given minimal cataloguing on the local library system only. A note is included in the catologue record to indicate whether the item is a thesis, dissertation or project report. 10.3.5 LoanTheses, dissertations and student projects normally are not available for loan. 10.3.6 CopyrightSubject to QUT's intellectual property policy (see section D/3.1 ), copyright of a thesis, dissertation or project report is vested in the student. Copying of theses, dissertations and project reports may be undertaken by or on behalf of any person entitled to use the library, subject to the provisions of the Copyright Act (see section F/5.1 ). |
